IPBES 10 Plenary
The tenth session of the Plenary of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES 10) is planned to be held in Bonn, Germany, from 28 August to 2 September 2023. Provision will be made for duly registered members of delegations to actively participate online in the plenary meetings and meetings of the two working groups which are expected to be established. Please note that any interventions made online need to be in English, and no interpretation into the other UN languages will be available.
Delegates that would like to participate online need to complete the same registration procedure as delegates participating in-person.
IPBES 10 will be preceded by regional consultations and a Stakeholder Day on 27 August 2023.
Considering the positive experience with the preparatory processes for IPBES 8 and IPBES 9, the IPBES Bureau decided to conduct a preparatory process for IPBES 10, which will include opportunities to review documentation as well as informal consultations prior to IPBES 10, as follows:
- External review of draft task force terms of reference and workplans from 20 February to 17 March 2023;
- Final Government review of key IPBES 10 working documents in July/August 2023 (including the summary for policymakers of the invasive alien species assessment; task force terms of reference and workplans; terms of reference for the mid-term review of IPBES; and report by the Bureau and Multidisciplinary Expert Panel on requests, inputs and suggestions for additional work programme topics) and publication of revised texts as “Chair’s notes” shortly ahead of IPBES 10;
- Online informal exchange of views among Governments on the key topics listed above: tentatively scheduled for the week of 24 July 2023.
Please note that document IPBES/10/6 “Summary for policymakers of the thematic assessment of invasive alien species and their control” will be available only to people who have duly registered for plenary.
