Gestión Urbana y Tecnológica Sas
Colombian architect, urban planner and environment expert.
I was Subdirector of Bogota´s Planning Department, head of Population and Land Planning at Colombia´s Environment Ministry, head of Policy Legislation and Decision Making at the Humboldt Research Institute on Biological Resources.
I have applied and enriched this institutional experience as consultant for national, regional and local governments in Colombia and the region ( Ecuador, Perú Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador ) as well as for private organizations, NGO ( IUCN, PNUD, UNFPA ) and multilateral organizations ( World Bank, IDB, IPBES). The former includes several processes and projects around the inclusion of risk management in urban-rural planning.
Today I´m partner and head of Gestión Urbana & Tecnológica (GUT S.a.s.), a private architecture & consultant firm , as well as lecturer in Universities in Colombia ( La Salle, Externado, El Rosario) and Panamá ( Isthmus – International Architecture and Design School).
I´m also part of two expert groups appointed by the IPBES ( Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services ) responsible for the development of two deliverables ; the “ Policy Tools and Methodologies Catalogue” and the “ Land Degradation an Restoration Assessment”.
In the Salzburg Global Seminar´s 557 Session (Parks and Forest for a New Urban Generation) I launched the “Ourdoor Grannies” Initiative, which seeks to strengthen urban children´s bound with nature through their grandmothers.
As researcher, practitioner, consultant and teacher I have three main and complementary focus:
i.) BD & ESS as structural decision-making factor;
ii.) urban- rural gradient ( from global to local, from public to private ,
iii.)science-policy-society interface ( participation & corresponsability)”.
