Invitation to attend the seventh meeting of the IPBES capacity-building forum (24 May 2024, Trondheim, Norway)

Dear collaborative supporters and other interested stakeholders supporting or interested in supporting capacity-building under IPBES,

I am pleased to invite relevant organizations, institutions and networks supporting and/or interested in contributing to the capacity-building work of IPBES to participate in the 7th meeting of the IPBES capacity-building forum. The focus of this meeting will be on building capacities in support of the second global assessment of IPBES. 

The IPBES capacity-building forum brings together institutions and organizations supporting, or interested in supporting, the work on capacity-building under IPBES. It provides an arena to increase engagement and facilitate cooperation around specific thematic capacity-building areas. The forum facilitates dialogue and knowledge sharing to explore and advance common agendas and long-term alignment of relevant programmes and activities among participants.

The Plenary, at its tenth session (IPBES 10), held in Bonn, Germany, from 28 August to 2 September 2023, approved the organization of the 7th meeting of the IPBES capacity-building forum as part of IPBES work under objective 2 of the IPBES work programme: building capacity. The 7th meeting of the IPBES capacity-building forum will provide an opportunity for representatives of organizations, institutions and networks supporting and/or interested in contributing to the capacity-building work of IPBES to join efforts in supporting increased engagement in the development, uptake and use of the second IPBES global assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services. 

The 7th meeting of the IPBES capacity-building forum will facilitate online participation and be held as an in-person meeting in Trondheim, Norway on 24 May 2024. Due to budget limitations, financial support will be provided only to a small number of invited speakers from countries eligible for financial support. All other participants will need to attend at their own costs. The meeting will be held in English only with no interpretation.

1. Register as user of the IPBES website (https://ipbes.net/user/register) if you have not already done so;
2. Log in first as IPBES website user and after this complete registration at https://www.ipbes.net/seventh-meeting-of-the-capacity-building-forum-registration by 30 April 2024. Please note that the registration form is in English only.
