Extension of upcoming deadlines (policy support call for inputs and nexus second external review) and save-the-date(nexus SPM government review)

3- Save-the-date: Additional Government review of the summary for policymakers of the IPBES nexus assessment

Dear IPBES members, observers and other interested stakeholders,
 
1- Extension
With reference to notification EM/2023/44 (17 October 2023), I would like to inform you that the call for inputs on the future role of the policy support function and ways to strengthen the implementation of objective 4 (a) has been extended to 13 January 2024.

2- Extension
With reference to notification EM/2023/55 (20 November 2023), I would like to inform you that the second external review of the thematic assessment of the interlinkages among biodiversity, water, food and health (nexus assessment), focusing on the second draft of the chapters and the first draft of the summary for policymakers, has been extended to 21 January 2024.

If you would like to participate as an expert reviewer for the second external review of the nexus assessment, please follow these steps:

1. Register as a user of the IPBES website (https://ipbes.net/user/register) if you have not already done so;
2. Register to review the draft assessment at https://www.ipbes.net/registration/nexus/sod;
3. Once registered, you will receive an email providing confidential access to the draft chapters, summary for policymakers, and glossary of the assessment;
4. Comments must be submitted in English using the Excel comment template available on the same webpage as the draft documents;
5. Comments must be submitted electronically via the IPBES website; when you are ready to submit your comments, please upload your completed Excel template no later than 21 January 2024 using the “Add Review” button on the same page as the draft documents (you must be logged in to upload your template);
6. If you encounter any technical issues uploading your comments template, please contact [email protected].

3- Save-the-date
Finally, in decision IPBES-10/1, the Plenary decided to enable Governments to undertake an additional review of the summary for policymakers of the nexus assessment, if considered feasible by the IPBES Multidisciplinary Expert Panel and co-chairs of the assessments within the time constraints of the assessment.

I am pleased to announce that the additional Government review of the summary for policymakers of the nexus assessment will be open from 13 May to 2 June 2024 (3 weeks). Further information will be shared in due course.
