On building momentum and broadening the group of active companies beyond frontrunners (Matt's point).

There is a wide variety in motivations, which can be captured in a typology. This can be used for interaction and activation, using different policy instruments and engagement channels. Business motives are very different with respect to building their business model and taking different values and societal concerns into account. See our policy brief on this: https://www.pbl.nl/en/publications/business-for-biodiversity

I also see a lot of possible cross-references to the IPBES Values assessment, and how business and finance could take the different types of values into account in their impact assessments, disclosure and in their decision making processes.

Would like to propose the company motives and drivers for taking different values into account as an additional topic for the B&B assessment.

Either in the theme for measuring and reporting impacts and dependencies, or in a new theme about "Activating business and finance to work towards nature-inclusive business models."
