 Wed, 19/04/2023 SBarudanovic Bosnia and Herzegovina Uses IPBES Outputs to Inform National Ecosystem Assessment Bosnian (26207) Bosnia and Herzegovina, under the coordination of UNEP-WCMC, and with the support of IKI, is carrying out a National Ecosystem Assessment that startes from the IPBES conceptual framework, with the use of key findings from a number of IPBES Assessment Reports - especially from the Europe and Central Asia Regional Assessment Report. Bosnia and Herzegovina strives to assess its own knowledge that is relevant for better informed decisions about biodiversity and nature's contributions to people.

The lack of relevant data and indicators encouraged the team, gathered from scientists from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina, to think innovatively about the simple use of significant, but scattered knowledge. As a result, for the first time, they are talking about mapping NCP/ecosystem services, direct and indirect drivers and scenarios for biodiversity in the country. Joe Neguse (Colo.-02), Ted Lieu (Calif.-33), Ruben Gallego (Ariz.-07), and Ed Case (Hawaii-01) to introduce the Thirty by Thirty Resolution to Save Nature to set a goal for the United States to conserve at least 30% of the ocean and land by 2030.

In a press conference, Rep. Haaland said, “Globally, the loss of nature – accelerated by climate change – is putting up to one million species on the path to extinction. Conserving our lands and waters is essential to protecting humans and wildlife and stabilizing our climate, so I’m following the direction from leading scientists and introducing this resolution to set a national goal of conserving 30 percent of America’s land and oceans by 2030 to tackle this urgent crisis.”

 Fri, 19/08/2022 Anonymous IPBES Global Assessment and Key Findings Cited in United States Senate Resolution to Protect 30% of the Land and Ocean by 2030 English (396) The IPBES Global Assessment and key findings from the Report were cited within the text of United States Senate Resolution 372 in the 116th Congress, a bill which suggests that "the Federal Government should establish a national goal of conserving at least 30 percent of the land and 30 percent of the ocean within the territory of the United States by 2030."

Namely, the findings that 1 million species face extinction, the direct drivers of biodiversity loss and five specific facts were incorporated in the bill to justify this proposal: ((A) human activities are damaging 2⁄3 of ocean areas; (B) only 3 percent of ocean areas remain pristine; (C) 15 percent of mangroves remain; (D) 50 percent of coral reefs remain; and (E) at the current rate of losses, less than 10 percent of the Earth will be free of substantial human impact by 2050);.  Fri, 19/08/2022 Anonymous Former US Secretary of State Draws on IPBES Global Assessment in Appeal to World Leaders to Protect Biodiversity English (396) Madeleine Albright, former US Secretary of State and former US Ambassador to the United Nations, draws on the IPBES Global Assessment in an article following the 2020 gathering of the Aspen Ministers Forum. Albright provides context for a statement released on 18 February 2020, signed by 23 former foreign ministers calling on world leaders to protect biodiversity. Albright highlights the findings of the IPBES Global Assessment, including that “the current rate of extinction is two to three times higher than the average rate over the past ten million years. As a result, up to one million species now stand threatened.”
