 Fri, 19/08/2022 Anonymous Paper Cites IPBES in Case Study Seeking to Identify Link Between Potential Futures and the Values Underpinning Them in Protected Land Areas in Czechia English (396) Drawing on IPBES Methodological Assessment Report's "future thinking", an approach helping people to understand and tackle complex sustainability, this study aims to address the gap between understanding the scope of the root causes of human decisions and actions, and the link between anthropogenic drivers and their potential future impacts on nature in local regions. Through the design and implementation of a local-scale participatory value-based scenario building process, this study explores the relationships between (1) multiple types of values, (2) actions taken by different types of stakeholders, and (3) their potential impacts on nature, nature’s contributions to people (including ecosystem services) and good quality of life. This paper summarizes the results and lessons learnt from an array of value-based participatory scenario-building processes in the context of Protected Land Areas in a Czechia, in Central Europe, and reflects on the utility of value-based participatory scenario planning as a means to strengthen sustainable governance. In total, this outreach engaged about 2500 scientists, practitioners, officials and NGOs. These events also included the participation of Global Assessment authors (co-chairs, CLAs, etc.).

 Wed, 19/04/2023 Anonymous Nordic Council of Ministers Employs IPBES Findings in New Proposal on Dietary Guidelines English (396) In 2016, the Nordic Council of Ministers took the initiative to update the scientific foundation for national nutrient recommendations and dietary guidelines in Nordic and Baltic countries. A draft of the Nordic Nutrition Recommendations (NNR) 2023 was developed and launched for public consultation on 31 March 2023.

In accordance with its scope and mandate, the report assessed the environmental effects of foods and food groups. It states: "The sixth assessment reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) (141, 142) and the Global Assessment Report on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services from the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (143) (IPBES) are pillars in the evaluation of environmental impact of food consumption in NNR2023."

The NNR project is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers (NCM) and the food and health authorities in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Sweden, and Norway. As associated members of the Nordic Council of Ministers, health authorities from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania were invited to participate in the NNR Committee with one observer each.
