Following Global Assessment, Irish Wildlife Groups Call for an Independent National Parks and Wildlife Service

In the week leading up to International Day of Biological Diversity on 22 May 2020, Irish Wildlife Groups including the Irish Wildlife Trust called for the establishment of an Independent National Parks and Wildlife Service. Liam Lysaght, director of the National Biodiversity Data Centre, explained that the public awareness of the global biodiversity crisis which led to the appeal was amplified in Ireland with the publication of the IPBES Global Assessment.
