The objective of this Thematic Report is to describe: (1) the state of knowledge on invasive alien species in the Brazilian territory, as well as the trends and determining factors for biological invasion processes in terrestrial, marine and continental water ecosystems; (2) the impacts caused by invasive alien species, characterizing their consequences for biodiversity and ecosystem services, considering the various knowledge systems and related value systems; (3) current and future management opportunities and governance options to mitigate the negative impacts caused, as well as to conserve biodiversity and ensure the provision of ecosystem services.
Specifically, the project will also: a) Support the preparation and dissemination of 01 (one) Special Report (ca. 300 pages); b) Support the preparation and dissemination of 01 (one) Summary for Policy Makers (Port./Eng.; ca. 30 pages); c) To widely disseminate the information compiled to different audiences; d) To organize workshops and launch the report in national and international events.

BPBES started in 2021 a Voluntary Young Researcher Program (JVP). In this particular Assessment there are 14 Post-Doc (2 per chapter and 2 with the Chairs of the Assessment). This 2 working with the chairs are also part of the IAI STeP Program (https://www.iai.int/en/step)
