UNCTAD BioTrade Initiative and CBD Workshop Highlights Importance Addressing Trade in Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework, Referencing IPBES Assessment Call for Sustainable Trade
English
The post-2020 global biodiversity framework aims for a transformational change towards the objectives of the CBD and other global biodiversity objectives, including the shift to sustainable trade. The workshop and subsequent report highlight trade as an important part of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework discussions and its future implementation, citing IPBES Assessment: "Trade, underpinned by social values and behaviors, may either be considered an indirect driver of biodiversity loss or an important factor in solving sustainability challenges".
