While these policies are a welcome start, in their current form they do not represent the transformative change required to bend the curve of biodiversity loss. To help achieve the transformative change necessary, the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee proposes a package of recommendations spanning biodiversity monitoring, funding, policy implementation, economics, and education. Informed by key IPBES Assessment findings, this report examines the state of biodiversity in the UK and how the UK can best protect and enhance biodiversity in the future, and seeks to evaluate the extent to which the UK is doing its part to deliver the transformative change necessary to reverse biodiversity loss. IPBES (UN biodiversity experts) says that the artificialization of environments is the first cause of the collapse of biodiversity. But what are we proposing? To go and put photovoltaic panels full field in sectors where it was impossible before, by derogating from the mountain law, the coastal law, etc. The best allies of renewable energies, like the LPO, are dropping out. Aged 7-17, the children and young people are meeting in two weekend workshops to participate in biodiversity-themed discussions, nature trails and problem-solving brainstorming sessions.

Although focused on national issues of nature loss, organiser Diarmuid Torney said: "The work of IPBES has informed our planning for the assembly in important ways. Probably the most important way in which we have drawn on IPBES findings is that we have divided the group of 35 assembly members into five thematic groups, each of which has been allocated one of the five key direct drivers of biodiversity loss as identified in the 2019 IPBES Global Assessment Report."  Mon, 31/10/2022 Fernando Neda Researchers Utilize IPBES Nature Futures Framework to Envision Pluralistic Desirable Futures of a New Urban Park in The Netherlands English (396) A case study involving the Nationaal Park Hollandse Duinen in The Netherlands has implemented the IPBES pluralistic framework for human-nature relationships to analyze how to incorporate multiple values in envisioning desirable futures. Co-designed with key stakeholders of the national park and using a participatory process, researchers engaged with the framework, which was developed by the IPBES task force on scenarios and models to catalyze the development of nature-centered scenarios.

"We integrated this Nature Futures Framework with the Three Horizons Framework in a participatory workshop process designed to bring people’s diverse relationships with nature to the fore, and jointly envision desirable futures and the pathways to get there," explained the researchers. Researchers also presented a methodology to analyze and compare the visions and assess their potential contribution to the SDGs.

"The approach successfully engaged participants in joint exploration of desirable futures for the national park based on their plural perspectives on human-nature relationships." Furthermore, researchers concluded that there is "potential for its applications to support change processes in various social-ecological contexts toward more sustainable futures for nature and people."  Mon, 06/02/2023 Fernando Neda Guided by IPBES-IPCC Joint Workshop Report, Eurelectric Proposes Solutions for EU Clean Energy Transition while Restoring & Protecting Biodiversity English (396) "Renewable energy generation and ecological restoration are critical tools to combat climate change. Climate change and biodiversity loss should be tackled together," according to Eurelectric when launching its “Power Plant” project at its Power Summit held in Brussels in June 2022. Eurelectric – the 3500-member strong federation of the European electricity industry – aims to "lead Europe’s energy transition with clean electricity."

In response to the IPBES-IPCC Co-Sponsored Workshop Report, the association claims it is exploring "the potential of limiting global warming while protecting biodiversity" by working with "leading utilities – including frontrunners aiming to be net contributors to biodiversity – as well as civil society, to identify best practices while deploying renewable energy and restoring nature." The project explores synergies (and proposes solutions) for biodiversity protection/restoration and solar, wind and hydro electric power, as well as electrical grids & storage.

According to the association: "Electrification, supported by a massive rollout of renewables, can break the cycle of degradation, and help regenerate biodiversity...Power Plant illustrates how the electricity industry can support the natural world and regenerate biodiversity through integrated renewable energy projects."
