How can the power relations between the primary producers in the Global South and consumers in the Global North be addressed?
Time and again, we have seen brazen environmental degradation occur in developing countries because the West always have a way of having its way among hapless, poor people who are ironically blessed with enormous natural resources that are largely at the mercy of multinational companies and Western bourgeoisie, and their insider accomplices or abettors. We have seen this happen in Congo DRC, Ghana and other places where the mulitinational companies and certain Western oligarchs mine solid minerals and extract timbers, all to the detriment of biodiversity. The case of the Amazon Forest incessant wildfire is fresh case point. Unless issues of natural resource mining is duly taken into consideration by the UN, we'd continue in the same cycle until the world becomes totally uninhabitable for anyone!
