Save the date: Review of the draft scoping report for the second global assessment

Dear IPBES members, observers and other interested stakeholders,

I am pleased to announce that the external review of the draft scoping report for the second global assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services will be open for review from 27 May to 30 June 2024.

In paragraph 4, section IV, decision IPBES-10/1, the Plenary approved a scoping process, for consideration by the Plenary at its eleventh session, for a second global assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services, in accordance with the procedures for the preparation of Platform deliverables (see decision IPBES-3/3, annex I, sections 3 and 4), and based on the initial scoping report (see document IPBES/10/10, annex II).

This external review will be addressed to Governments and interested and qualified experts, including scientists, decision makers, practitioners and other knowledge holders.

During the review period, dialogue meetings with IPBES national focal points and stakeholders will be organized, as follows:

• Dialogues with Governments:
  • First session: 11 June 2024, 10 a.m. - noon CEST
  • Second session: 11 June, 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. CEST
• Dialogues with stakeholders:
  • First session: 12 June 2024, 10 a.m. - noon CEST
  • Second session: 12 June 2024, 4 p.m. - 6pm CEST
