Awards and Prizes

The work of IPBES has been widely acknowledged around the world for its transformative impact on policy, research, advocacy and action, for people and for nature. This recognition of the quality, credibility and value of IPBES outputs has also taken the form of major awards, prizes, nominations and other accolades – a selection of which are listed below. Although the individual criteria for each of these acknowledgements differ, with some focused on specific activities and others on the entirety of the IPBES work programme, they all pay tribute to the expertise, energy and dedication of the world-leading scientists and other knowledge-holders – also from Indigenous and local communities – whose historical and ongoing contributions to IPBES have made these achievements possible.
