This series of workshops was spread through the global time zones and hosted by regional ESP representatives, but open to anybody interested in reviewing the assessment.

We were explicitly looking for expertise from members of governments, local communities and civil society who have practical, technical and/or academic knowledge.

Each of the 5 workshops consisted of a short presentation of the values assessment and the summary for policy makers; an explanation of the review process; and an interactive part where participants were able to put forward questions and comments on the different chapters. We collected the comments and questions arising during the workshops, and also pesented to participans the review mechanism so they can submit comments afterwards.

Learning material (e.g., video, presentation, booklet, article and website), assessment Policy instruments, policy support tools and methodologies In 2021, the BBPf explored the need for a Belgian IPBES-like assessment, and proposed a governance structure adapted to the Belgian context as well as the resources needed to implement this. The exercise built on the new political context and highlighted the added value compared to past and ongoing initiatives. For now, the BBPF does not have sufficient capacity to pull of the initiative, but we do hope that putting this on the agenda of policy/research institutions has increased the attention to the importance of transdisciplinary IPBES-like national assessment, to complement existing report and reinforce science-based policy support in the context of the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework and the Belgian commitments therein. We also hope to re-initiate the work once the resources/capacity allow for this, and we remain highly supported to related initiatives. Objective 2 (a), 4 - A Youth workshop to strengthen the engagement of young people in the work of IPBES and to support the uptake of assessments among young people, other individuals and organisations will be organized. Footnote: The workshop will target individuals representing youth organizations (working on the issues of biodiversity and ecosystem services) that have an active voice in their community. An open call, including selection criteria, will be issued.

The idea is not to explain content to the young, but to listen to the young, to harvest their motivations, concerns and ideas to incorporate them in IPBES work. This could be done by applying nature futures. Potentially, a contribution to the nexus and tc assessments can be envisaged, also the discussion of SUB and Values assessments is an option.

There is the general move, especially in Africa to increase the amount of inorganic fertilizer applications to boost crop production. Juxtaposing the shallow soil depth and rate of increase of fertilizer applications, especially the nitrogen-based fertilizers, it is imperative to speak about the consequence of contamination of surface and ground water by runoff and leaching of these inorganic fertilizers. The devastations of nitrogen polluted water bodies are evident all over the world. It is therefore important to discuss the measures to subvert this devastation. An organization/Project or governance infrastructure scoring more than 80% or working to achieve this target can be considered sustainable and other matter of financing instruments and green technologies development are automatically inculcated in it. Therefore,, I suggest to all stakeholder of IPBES to incorporate this tool in all matters of capacity-building processes to achieve the goals of SDG 14 and also make it part of the political declaration of UNOC 2022 to further its implementation through UNCLOS and ISA. It is a great concept to adopt and I hope most of the nations would support it because its implementation gives a win win situation for every one and nothing to loose with respect to Climate Change and environmental impacts.
I am ready to contribute knowledge in this matter, if stakeholders are interested to further its applications and in my opinion it should be taken up before the UNOC 2022, so that some consensus among the stakeholders should be developed before this event for its approval.
