Oladele (Dele) Ogunseitan is Professor and Founding Chair of the Department of Population Health & Disease Prevention, and Professor of Social Ecology at the University of California, Irvine. He was trained in microbiology, environmental health science, and international health. He directs workforce development for NIH-funded Institute of Clinical and Translational Science, and he serves on the Board of Directors of the UC Systemwide Global Health Institute. Dele served on the State of California’s Green Ribbon Science Panel, and the State's Advisory Committee on Community Protection and Hazardous Waste Reduction. He is co-chair of Apple, Inc.’s Green Chemistry Advisory Board.
Dele is an alumni faculty fellow of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He earned a Certificate in Global Health Diplomacy at the U.S. Foreign Service Institute. His honors include Jefferson Science Fellow of the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine; and Meritorious Honor Award from the U.S. Department of State for “exceptional teamwork and contributions to the successful achievement of U.S. goals at the third United Nations Environment Assembly, December 2017.”
