Familiarization of IPBES works to reach a wider community requires strategic support to increase the resilience to harness community-based conservation efforts. This initiative will enhance individual and community capacities for supporting the development and use of IPBES deliverables because Uganda is one country that is lagging behind in the dissemination of the IPBES works and we want to believe that to strengthen the role of local and indigenous communities in the implementation of IPBES works especially building and supporting their practice in conservation is essential when we work closely with local and indigenous communities, governments and non-state actors to create and improve the chances of tilting the balance in negotiations in favor of biodiversity.
The contribution is in line with the IPBES 2030 work programme which includes building capacity as one of its six objectives and particularly it shall build the capacity and strengthen the knowledge foundations of the Karamojong indigenous Nomadic Pastoralist of North East Uganda and Iteso local community and it’s seen as supporting the policy. The two communities are chosen because they are situated amid areas of high biodiversity and other values of nature in the country. We aim to build the capacities of the target communities to make known the IPBES works and reports on biodiversity and ecosystem services. These products when understood by the target communities shall make good country’s dual goal of improving the management of natural resources and people’s quality of life and aimed to conserve wildlands and their biodiversity while simultaneously balancing the needs of local people, sustaining ecosystem dynamics and resilience, and ensuring continuity for future generations. This contribution undertakes community engagement of IPBES reports using bottom-up empowerment and it is justified that working to engage communities to understand assessment/research reports is considered a practical and pragmatic way of improving the delivery of outcomes and making interventions more cost-effective.

Issues facing pollinators in Trinidad and Tobago largely stem from a lack of data, a lack of public awareness and a lack of pollinator-appropriate management.

This project aims to address these challenges by engaging a broad range of stakeholders through public awareness and citizen science initiatives, identifying knowledge gaps, encouraging and supporting scientific research, facilitating collaboration and improving livelihoods, and reviewing policy. It is expected that because of these activities, knowledge and understanding of pollinators and their threats and management options among the general public increases; management of pollinators improves, particularly among food producers; a number of tools are made available to present and future generations.

The assessment will cover the Marine Area under National Jurisdiction and the Coastal Zone of Brazil. The Marine Area under National Jurisdiction includes the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) beyond the Legal Continental Shelf (JCP) - which in some in some cases exceeds 200 nautical miles from the EEZ. The Coastal Zone is delimited with a width of 12 nautical miles nautical miles from the baseline on the coast, in addition to its terrestrial part which all municipalities facing the sea and the areas of influence associated with hydrographic basins

The exercise built on the new political context and highlighted the added value compared to past and ongoing initiatives. For now, the BBPF does not have sufficient capacity to pull of the initiative, but we do hope that putting this on the agenda of policy/research institutions has increased the attention to the importance of transdisciplinary IPBES-like national assessment, to complement existing report and reinforce science-based policy support in the context of the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework and the Belgian commitments therein. We also hope to re-initiate the work once the resources/capacity allow for this, and we remain highly supported to related initiatives. Brazil		 Brasil https://www.bpbes.net.br/ @BPBES_oficial @bpbes Thematic Report on Invasive Alien Species, Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Larger capacity-building projects or initiatives, Support to national or (sub)regional platforms or networks engaging in IPBES IPBES assessments Engagement with ongoing assessments, Uptake and use of approved IPBES assessments The objective of this Thematic Report is to describe: (1) the state of knowledge on invasive alien species in the Brazilian territory, as well as the trends and determining factors for biological invasion processes in terrestrial, marine and continental water ecosystems; (2) the impacts caused by invasive alien species, characterizing their consequences for biodiversity and ecosystem services, considering the various knowledge systems and related value systems; (3) current and future management opportunities and governance options to mitigate the negative impacts caused, as well as to conserve biodiversity and ensure the provision of ecosystem services.
Specifically, the project will also: a) Support the preparation and dissemination of 01 (one) Special Report (ca. 300 pages); b) Support the preparation and dissemination of 01 (one) Summary for Policy Makers (Port./Eng.; ca. 30 pages); c) To widely disseminate the information compiled to different audiences; d) To organize workshops and launch the report in national and international events.

In this particular Assessment there are 14 Post-Doc (2 per chapter and 2 with the Chairs of the Assessment). Mexico		 México Exploratory study for the design of a strategy for knowledge management that increases community adaptation and resilience capacities to Climate Change in the eastern region of the State of Mexico, Mexico. Support to communities of practice engaging in IPBES Indigenous and local knowledge systems, Scenarios and models From a methodological approach that integrates elements of education for comprehensive water management and for adaptation to Climate Change, with a design approach for transitions and adaptive management of socio-ecological systems. An exploratory study will be carried out through interviews with key actors (academics, members of civil society organizations, federal government officials, municipal government officials, teachers, agricultural producers and inhabitants) and surveys of middle school students (high schools and high schools) for:

1) Carry out a general survey of the current situation at the level of water security (access to drinking water in adequate quantity and quality to cover their consumption, sanitation, hygiene and health needs).
2) Carry out a general survey regarding the state of the ecosystems and their capacity to continue providing hydrological ecosystem services, on which both people and biodiversity depend.
3) Know if the organizational, management, infrastructure and knowledge resources available to the population allow it to be resilient or adapt to extreme hydrometeorological phenomena derived from Climate Change, such as drought.
4) Know the visions of the future of adults and young people regarding the ideal of community development.

The results of the research will make it possible to assess current opportunities, gaps and challenges. What will allow the design of a relevant and culturally appropriate knowledge management strategy, and that facilitates the creation of capacities to increase community resilience and adaptation to Climate Change.
