Dear IPBES members, observers and other interested stakeholders,

As you might remember, the IPBES task forces on scenarios and models and on Indigenous and local knowledge, in line with their workplans for 2025, are organizing a workshop to reflect on scenarios and models that better account for different knowledge systems, including Indigenous and local knowledge systems, and Mother Earth-centric scenarios and models. The workshop is planned to be held over four days in Valencia, the Philippines, in May 2025.

With reference to notification EM/2024/02 I would like to remind interested experts and practitioners to complete the respective application forms by 9 February 2025, and to remind nominators (Governments or organizations) to submit the nominations of all nominees which they would like to support before 19 February 2025

The workshop will be held in English and will comprise about 20 participants selected by the IPBES Multidisciplinary Expert Panel. Participants will include members of Indigenous Peoples and local communities, as well as members of the IPBES task forces on scenarios and models and on Indigenous and local knowledge. Selection of the participants will reflect attention to regional and gender balances.

I thank you in advance for your nominations and your continued support to IPBES.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Anne Larigauderie | Executive Secretary
Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES)
