Co-sponsored IPBES/IPCC Workshop to Be Held in December 2020

IPBES Executive Secretary Anne Larigauderie is pleased to announce a Workshop on Biodiversity and Climate Change, co-sponsored by IPBES and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which will be held in London from 12 to 14 May 2020 (update: 14-17 December 2020). The workshop will be hosted by the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland with additional sponsorship by the Government of Norway.

The joint workshop will bring together 50 experts from the IPCC and IPBES expert communities to explore the interlinkages between biodiversity and climate change and it will be led by a scientific steering committee comprised of six experts selected by the IPBES Multidisciplinary Expert Panel and six experts selected by the IPCC.

The three-day event will result in a special workshop report, which will be available in time for the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity at its 15th meeting and the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change at its 26th session, to inform the respective Convention processes.
