In memoriam: Prof. Bob Scholes
We are deeply saddened to share with you the news that our friend, collaborator and eminent scientist, Prof. Bob Scholes, has died.
Bob has been a stalwart leader of so many parts of the IPBES expert work – having co-chaired the Land Degradation and Restoration Assessment, and over the past months also co-chairing the IPBES-IPCC co-sponsored workshop on climate change and biodiversity science.
In addition to his exceptional expertise in global change, and his tireless work to bridge the divides between climate change, land and biodiversity issues, he was a remarkable teacher and a larger-than-life personality.
His loss affects all of us – and will be felt by our community for a very long time. His legacy of knowledge and love for our natural world will live on – through all the lives that he touched.
Join us in sending our deepest condolences to Prof. Mary Scholes, his family and all of his colleagues around the world.
