Animated video introducing how youth can be involved in and learn about IPBES:

What is the IPBES youth workshop?

The IPBES youth workshop aims to build capacities of young people (18-30 years) to support their engagement in the work of IPBES, and to support increased understanding and use of IPBES assessments and other products among young people, other individuals and organizations. Participants will learn about the general structure and work of IPBES, including past and ongoing IPBES assessments. Current aspects of IPBES work are discussed in more detail, for example participants explore possible nature futures of biodiversity and ecosystem services from the perspective of early-career professionals. The workshop typically consists of 25 participants from the five UN regions (Africa, Asia and Pacific, Eastern Europe, Latin America and Caribbean, Western Europe and others) and is usually held over the course of 3 full days.

The participants will get the chance to learn from and work with selected IPBES experts who will facilitate the workshop together with the IPBES technical support unit on capacity-building. Participants can connect with other outstanding early-career experts and expand their social and professional network.
