Uzbekistan Joins IPBES as its 136th Member

Dear IPBES members, observers and other interested stakeholders,

It is very encouraging to see the ongoing rise of global levels of interest in the work of IPBES. I am very pleased to announce that, on the basis of a request by H.E. Abdulaziz Kamilov, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan has formally joined IPBES as our 136th member.

 

Ms. Dilfuza Khamidova (Chief specialist of International Cooperation and Projects Department, State Committee for Ecology and Environmental Projects of Uzbekistan) has been officially designated as the National Focal Point for IPBES of Uzbekistan, and her contact details will be reflected soon on the IPBES website.

 

I extend to Uzbekistan our warmest welcome – the IPBES family continues to grow, both in size and extent of engagement and impact – strengthening science and policy, for people and nature.
