Save the date: Review of draft work plans for IPBES task forces starts soon!

Dear IPBES members, observers and other interested stakeholders,

In notification EM/2022/45 it was announced that IPBES 10 is scheduled to be held from 28 August to 2 September 2023 in Bonn, Germany, hosted by the United States of America.

Considering the positive experience with the preparatory processes conducted for previous sessions of the Plenary, the IPBES Bureau decided to also conduct a preparatory process for IPBES 10, which will include opportunities to review documentation as well as informal consultations prior to IPBES 10. Further information on all elements of the process will be made available shortly.

As one of the steps in the preparatory process for IPBES 10, a document on IPBES work on building capacity, strengthening knowledge foundations and supporting policy is planned to be made available for review from 20 February to 17 March 2023. As the Plenary decided to review, at IPBES 10, the mandates of the current IPBES task forces, the document sets out draft revised terms of reference for the task forces, as well as draft workplans for the intersessional periods until IPBES 13 (2026). Following the review, the document will be finalized and made available for consideration by the Plenary at IPBES 10, under item 8 of the provisional agenda on building capacity, strengthening knowledge foundations and supporting policy.

Information on how to register as a reviewer and access the document will be shared at the beginning of the review period.
