Learning material (e.g., video, presentation, booklet, article and website), assessment Policy instruments, policy support tools and methodologies In 2021, the BBPf explored the need for a Belgian IPBES-like assessment, and proposed a governance structure adapted to the Belgian context as well as the resources needed to implement this. The exercise built on the new political context and highlighted the added value compared to past and ongoing initiatives. For now, the BBPF does not have sufficient capacity to pull of the initiative, but we do hope that putting this on the agenda of policy/research institutions has increased the attention to the importance of transdisciplinary IPBES-like national assessment, to complement existing report and reinforce science-based policy support in the context of the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework and the Belgian commitments therein. We also hope to re-initiate the work once the resources/capacity allow for this, and we remain highly supported to related initiatives. Issues facing pollinators in Trinidad and Tobago largely stem from a lack of data, a lack of public awareness and a lack of pollinator-appropriate management.

This project aims to address these challenges by engaging a broad range of stakeholders through public awareness and citizen science initiatives, identifying knowledge gaps, encouraging and supporting scientific research, facilitating collaboration and improving livelihoods, and reviewing policy. It is expected that because of these activities, knowledge and understanding of pollinators and their threats and management options among the general public increases; management of pollinators improves, particularly among food producers; a number of tools are made available to present and future generations.

INDIA http://nirdpr.org.in/ CAPACITY BUILDING ON CONSERVATION AND SUSTAINABLE USE OF BIODIVERSITY AT THE PANCHAYAT LEVEL Activity or event (e.g., meeting, workshop, webinar, conference, article, website), Larger capacity-building projects or initiatives IPBES assessments, Policy instruments, policy support tools and methodologies, Scenarios and models Uptake and use of approved IPBES assessments The goal of the capacity building on "sustainable use of biodiversity" is to introduce principles and governance tools to different stakeholders of biodiversity conservation at the grassroots level, particularly for those involved in rural development and Panchayati raj systems for better governance and Use of Biodiversity at Panchayat level. The capacity building programme will be imparted as Training of Trainee (ToT) mode to the panchayat level through identified agencies like state rural development institutes (SIRDs) and non-governmental institutions. The programme is designed under the larger perspective laid down by the "Convention of Biodiversity" (CBD), the "Intergovernmental platform for biodiversity and ecosystem services" (IPBES) and the governance approaches adopted in India's Biodiversity Act 2002. As envisioned at intergovernmental levels, the linkages between the 'nature's contribution to the people' (NCP) and 'good quality of life' (GQL) have been taken as a guiding principle to develop capacity building modules for this programme. The classification of different nature's contributions under material, non-material and regulative functions of biodiversity received immense attention in science policy platforms. The ToT will effectively disseminate the knowledge and skill required for improving the governance of biodiversity and ecosystem services at the grassroots level through Panchayat Raj. It will also help to impart the socio-economic and governance dimensions of biodiversity and ecosystem services to 2.6 lakhs panchayats in India .

This series of workshops was spread through the global time zones and hosted by regional ESP representatives, but open to anybody interested in reviewing the assessment.

We were explicitly looking for expertise from members of governments, local communities and civil society who have practical, technical and/or academic knowledge.

Each of the 5 workshops consisted of a short presentation of the values assessment and the summary for policy makers; an explanation of the review process; and an interactive part where participants were able to put forward questions and comments on the different chapters. We collected the comments and questions arising during the workshops, and also pesented to participans the review mechanism so they can submit comments afterwards.

CABES is supported by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV).

The goals of the CABES programme include:

Goal one: to inform national decision-making processes amongst multiple stakeholder groups including researchers, practitioners from the public and private sectors, as well as non-governmental organisations (NGOs), indigenous and local knowledge (ILK) holders, women, and IPBES National Focal Points (NFPs) in target countries.

Goal two: to establish a network of science-policy platforms to contribute to the implementation of the IPBES rolling work programmes at national, sub-regional and regional level. Sub-regional refers to countries either in West, Central or East Africa, and the regional level represents the 38 countries.

Goal three: to train early career scientists, researchers and facilitators to manage science-policy interfaces (SPIs). Finally, CABES will develop capacities to support the implementation of political decisions for the management and sustainable use of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services/Nature’s Contributions to People (BES/NCPs).

Objectives of the CABES programme
The overall project objective is to raise awareness of IPBES (www.ipbes.net) amongst multiple stakeholder groups and undertake actions towards a better representation of West, Central, and East Africa in IPBES activities as well as improved uptake of IPBES products into national policies to better conserve and sustainably use BES/NCPs. This is closely related to the main outcome of the project, targeting at science-policy-practice communities represented by researchers, practitioners from the public, private sectors, as well as NGOs, ILK holders and focal points in West, Central, and East Africa that support the national governments to engage in the IPBES rolling work programme at global level, and its implementation at the regional and national level.

In order to achieve this objective, CABES is committed to:
• Enhance the awareness about IPBES and its multiple outputs to inform national decision-making processes on the conservation and sustainable use of BES/NCPs amongst various stakeholder groups,
• Establish a network of science-policy platforms to contribute to the implementation of IPBES work programme at national, sub-regional, and regional levels across West, Central, and East Africa,
• Develop capacities of decision makers and other target groups to support the implementation of political decisions on nature-based solutions, ecosystem-based adaptation approaches and sustainable use of BES/NCPs.
• Develop capacities of decision makers and other target groups to support the implementation of political decisions on nature-based solutions, ecosystem-based adaptation approaches and sustainable use of BES/NCPs.

An organization/Project or governance infrastructure scoring more than 80% or working to achieve this target can be considered sustainable and other matter of financing instruments and green technologies development are automatically inculcated in it. Therefore,, I suggest to all stakeholder of IPBES to incorporate this tool in all matters of capacity-building processes to achieve the goals of SDG 14 and also make it part of the political declaration of UNOC 2022 to further its implementation through UNCLOS and ISA. It is a great concept to adopt and I hope most of the nations would support it because its implementation gives a win win situation for every one and nothing to loose with respect to Climate Change and environmental impacts.
I am ready to contribute knowledge in this matter, if stakeholders are interested to further its applications and in my opinion it should be taken up before the UNOC 2022, so that some consensus among the stakeholders should be developed before this event for its approval.
