Call for proposals to the prototype IPBES Matchmaking Facility

The IPBES Chair launched on 20 July a call for proposals requesting technical or financial support for planning or implementing capacity-building projects, in the context of the IPBES prototype Matchmaking Facility. Deadline for receiving projects is 5 September 2015. This call for proposals is available here.

Call for input on the First IPBES Capacity-building Forum (deadline for response is 24 July)

The Chair of IPBES sent on 3 July a letter to IPBES Member States, Observers and Partners to provide information on the first meeting of the IPBES Capacity-building Forum (Dehradun, India, 19-22 October 2015) and invite suggestions for participants to attend this meeting. First issue of IPBES e-news published on 1 July

IPBES e-news is the newsletter from the IPBES Secretariat. It will inform all individual and organisations interested in IPBES about progress in the implementation of the work programme and opportunities to provide feedback and get involved.

Professor Sir Robert Watson, Vice Chair of IPBES (WEOG), awarded the 2015 Ecological Engagement Award by the British Ecological Society

Professor Sir Robert Watson, Vice Chair of IPBES (WEOG), has been awarded the 2015 Ecological Engagement Award by the British Ecological Society. Given annually, the award recognises an exceptional contribution to facilitating the use and understanding of ecology. Bob is Director of Strategic Development at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research at UEA, and a visiting professor at the Monash Sustainability Institute at Monash University. 

Call for nomination of experts

The Chair of IPBES in a letter dated 5 February 2015 has called for nominations for experts for: 1) the regional and sub-regional assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services (Deliverable 2b); 2) the thematic assessment of land degradation and restoration (Deliverable 3bi); 3) the scoping for a global assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Interested experts (Nominees) are requested to fill out their application on-line no later than 31 March 2015. Nominators (governments or organisations) should submit approved applications by 5 April 2015. All necessary information related to the nomination procedure can be found in the letter and in the application form.

Nominated and selected experts should refer to the brief guideline with information on the expected workload, selection criteria, responsibilities, time commitment and availability of support.
