Call for comments: revised draft stakeholder engagement strategy

The secretariat would like to invite comments on the revised draft stakeholder engagement strategy from governments and stakeholders. Owing to a shortage of time, the second session of the Plenary did not consider the draft stakeholder engagement strategy and decided to defer further consideration of the document to its third session. Following the discussion, the Chair proposed “that the secretariat develop a revised version of the draft strategy for consideration by the Plenary.” In response to this request, the secretariat prepared a revised version of the draft stakeholder engagement strategy that was submitted to the Plenary at its second session. Comments invited for the draft scoping reports for the regional and sub-regional assessments of IPBES

Comments are invited for the draft scoping reports for the regional and sub-regional assessments of IPBES  (Deliverable 2b of the IPBES Work Programme) which was prepared by 125 experts who met in Paris, France, on 17 - 22 August 2014. IPBES 3 - Registration deadline extended to 31 October 2014

The registration deadline for the  third session of the Platform's Plenary to be held from 12 to 17 January 2015, in Bonn, Germany has been extended to 31 October 2014. Supported participants from developing countries are especially encouraged to register on or before the deadline to provide ample time for travel arrangements. 

IPBES Bureau Member and Vice-Chair for Africa receives the MIDORI Prize

Congratulations to Alfred Oteng Yeboah, IPBES Bureau Member and Vice-Chair for Africa, on being among the winners of the MIDORI Prize for Biodiversity 2014. The winners were announced on 8 September 2014 in Tokyo, Japan and Montreal, Canada. The MIDORI Prize is a biennial international prize organized by the AEON Environmental Foundation and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) to honour individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity at global, regional or local levels.
