Call for comments: Second open Stakeholder and Government review for revised scoping report for a methodological assessment on the diverse conceptualization of values of biodiversity and nature’s benefits to people (IPBES Deliverable 3d).
IPBES-3 requested (IPBES-3/1, section V, para 3) to revise the report on scoping for the methodological assessment regarding diverse conceptualization of multiple values of nature and its benefits, including biodiversity and ecosystem functions and services (IPBES/3/8), based on the comments following an open Government and Stakeholder review and comments received during IPBES-3 for the consideration by the Plenary at its fourth session. The scoping report for the methodological assessment was submitted for open government and stakeholder review from 26 February - 31 March 2015.
The comments from the open review were further discussed in the IPBES 3(d) Expert Group meeting in Budapest, Hungary, June 8-12, and the scoping document was revised based on these comments as well the comments made during the IPBES-3. After addressing above mentioned comments, the scoping document went through short internal Expert Group review, and draft scoping report (.pdf , .doc ) for the full assessment is now ready for the second round of open government and stakeholder review.
The registration deadline for the fourth session of the Plenary of IPBES to be held from 22-28 February 2016, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia has been extended to 16 October 2015. Supported participants from developing countries are encouraged to register before this deadline to leave enough time for travel arrangements.
In addition, please note that Africa regional consultation meetings and the Stakeholder days will take place on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st February 2016 and that the other Regional Consultations meetings will take place on Sunday 21st February 2016.

The E-conferences will take place in 3 sessions during 7th - 25th of September 2015. Co-Chairs from the Multidisciplinary Expert Panel of IPBES will facilitate discussions in each session and experts will be invited to discuss and comment. The Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) invites governments and prospective experts with relevant knowledge and/or experience to review and further develop the initial scoping for (a) the thematic assessment on invasive alien species and their control (Deliverable 3bii) and (b) the thematic assessment on sustainable use and conservation of biodiversity and strengthening capacities and tools (Deliverable 3biii).
